Getting to Cortona
By airplane:
International Airport of Florence-Peretola (about 75 miles).
International Airport of Perugia-Sant'Egidio (about 38 miles).
By rail:
Florence to Rome railway line : Terontola or Camucia train station.
Terontola-Perugia-Assisi-Terni railway line: Terontola station.
Cortona is only a short cab ride from both stations.
By car:
Turn off the A1 highway (Autostrada del Sole) at the Valdichiana exit. Past the toll-booth, get on the Siena-Perugia (E45 direction Perugia) toll-free speedway and turn off at the second exit (Cortona-San Lorenzo); follow signs to Cortona (well marked).
L.F.I. bus service:
Getting off at the Camucia, Terontola, Arezzo or Castiglion Fiorentino train stations , Cortona can also be easily reached by bus.
In Cortona:
From the Piazza Garibaldi, just walk down the Via Nazionale all the way to the Piazza della Repubblica; leading off the square, to the right of the imposing town hall stone staircase, is the Piazza Signorelli, dominated by the Palazzo Casali, home of the MAEC museum;
Entering the town through the Porta Colonia gate, simply walk down the Via Dardano; this ends right into the Piazza Signorelli, dominated by the Palazzo Casali, home of the MAEC museum;
Entering the town through the Porta S.Agostino gate, walk up the steep Via Guelfa all the way to the Piazza della Repubblica; leading off the square, to the right of the imposing town hall stone staircase, is the Piazza Signorelli, dominated by the Palazzo Casali, home of the MAEC museum
